| Curiosity | If you want to gain control over your life, you have to
know a lot about the world you live in and how everything works. Mankind
can be classified as the most curious animal on earth. "Curious" in both
meanings...
This seems to be wrong. If people are this curious, why do most of them hate going to school? Because something is wrong with our educational system. Take a look at small children: they are very, very curious and will only stop asking questions when they have to eat or sleep - or if they found no one willing to answer, which will happen far too often. Adults will find this permanent questioning annoying most of the time and they will develop a behaviour that will stop the children from doing so. Open your eyes when you ride a train or drive a bus:take a look at small children and see how they ask questions and watch the reaction of their parents. Do they encourage their children or do they try to stop them? You will watch the latter all the time. How should curiosity develop when damaged this way and so often? And there is an institution that will do serious damage to the curiosity
of our children, too: the school. I don't want to go too far into this,
but forcing children to learn is not the right way to raise curiosity.
